OZoola Beachlife teams up with Take 3 to clean up Australia’s oceans

Media release | October 2022

Online retailer OZoola Beachlife has officially partnered with sustainability initiative Take 3 For The Sea to support its mission in freeing the world’s waterways from plastic pollution.

As plastic continues to take its toll on the land and sea, grassroots movements like Take 3 For The Sea are striving to reverse the damage through simple actions like encouraging visitors to any waterway to take 3 pieces of rubbish with them when they leave.

“We’ve chosen to sponsor Take 3 because we share their belief that simple actions can have a big effect when everyone works together,” says OZoola director Yoav Yichie. “As a brand centred around the beach, we’re passionate about protecting our marine environment so that we can continue to enjoy the laidback lifestyle it gives us for generations to come.”

According to recent figures a whopping 91% of the 8.3 billion tonnes of the plastic created since the 1950s has been discarded, with most of it sitting in landfills or dispersed in the ocean. With no means of proper disposal, many animals end up ingesting plastic, causing injury, suffocation, starvation and even death. Not only does plastic have a devastating effect on wildlife, it also contaminates our food chain through the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe.

“Plastic pollution is one the greatest environmental issues of our time,” says Jacquie Riddell, CEO of Take 3. “We’re glad to have the support of OZoola to help spread the message of sustainability and environmental responsibility. It is thanks to businesses like OZoola that we’re able to offer our educational programs that raise awareness of the impact of plastic pollution on the environment and empower people to take action to reduce it.”

To date, OZoola's partnership with Take 3 has already resulted in 75,000 pieces of plastic being removed from Australia’s oceans and waterways, with every purchase helping to fund more removal of plastic pollution.

“Whether it's by taking 3 pieces of rubbish with you after you’ve enjoyed your day at the beach or by donating to organisations like Take 3, we all have the power to make a difference,” says Yoav. “We want to inspire people to take action and show how easy it is to do so. Just by shopping with us, you’re empowering Take 3 to wipe out plastic from our precious waterways. We’re so proud to be in a position to support such a worthwhile cause.”
